Goldie aka Kodak Jonez
Goldie was born Samuel Michael Golden Jr., October 17, 1973, in St Louis, Missouri. Goldie grew up listening to a variety of musical styles; however hip hop was the music that he was most drawn to. Goldie first began to rap in 1985 at the age of 12. It was the music of LL Cool J that inspired him to create his first rap. Other artists who have inspired Goldie are, Run DMC, Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, NWA, Too $hort, Just Ice, Scarface, Tupac, and many more.
Before embarking on his solo career Goldie preformed with a few rap groups such as: Triple X Crew and Organized Crime Posse (O.C.P). Goldie began his career using the rap name of Pure Gold; however he made the choice to stick with the name of Goldie because it is the name he is most widely known by.
In 2001 he teamed up with Remix, the CEO of Headnod Production the result was his first EP entitled The Midst (meaning Midwest).
